Lib 602 Begins & Lib 678 Continues!

I am soooo excited that school is out and summer vacation has begun!  Now I can find more time in the day to complete all of my 678 assignments and explore the technology tools in 602.  I was about to explode towards the end of the school year with all of the school end-of-year responsibilities (I teach high school theatre), Ruritan Club (I am the DC Ruritan Club 2012 President), role of mom (I have a 3 and 1 year old) & wife, and the overwhelming work in 678 (great class, but a lot of work).  As soon as I finish writing today's blog, I am going to start working on my Project 1.3 draft for Dr. Dickenson.  First, of course, I have to check all the updates on blackboard, facebook, and goodreads.  Does anyone get a little overwhelmed just checking all of the different sites?  I love each of them individually, but it is crazy trying to check all of them and make sure I am reading and replying to everyone.  Of course this is why I have named my blog, "A New Found Respect."  I have a new found respect for librarians.  I have to admit when I first decided to get my endorsement it was because I needed a change from the classroom and I want to give up the extreme time spent after school with teaching drama, so I can be home more with my babies.  I never realized how much the media specialist did and the vast amount of knowledge they have to have.  I also didn't realize how much work they put into earning their endorsement.  I am growing more and more excited each day with the idea of moving into the school library and love the idea of collaborating with teachers and becoming an integral part of the school, but it is kicking my butt getting there.  A student told our librarian that she couldn't tell him what to do because, "you aren't a teacher, you are just a librarian."  Wow!  Someone needs a wakeup call.  I now consider media specialists to be amped up teachers!  I definitely have a new found respect=)

  1. I'm right there with you! In the past, I haven't checked every new item on blackboard, but I've been doing that for 678 and it takes quite a while. I've been out of school since the last week of May though so it's slowed down a little for me. I love your page..very cute! :)

  3. I will have to be the third on the craziness that is LIBS 678. As a teacher, I have always wished for a long summer, but this one can't be over fast enough!
